Job Description

Internship Title: Content Creator & Business Development Intern (Sustainable Growth)
 
Company: Essex County Council

As part of this internship, you’ll be working across the Sustainable Growth directorate. We are responsible for building a strong, inclusive and sustainable economy across the county. We deliver essential infrastructure, support local businesses and ensure everyone has access to high quality jobs in growing sectors. 

 

We work with teams across the organisation, as well as key partners within other local authorities, universities and the health service. We also maintain strong engagement with private sector businesses, providing them with the tools, knowledge and support they need to thrive in Essex. 

 
Location: Remote or Chelmsford
 
Start Date: 13 May 2024
 
Duration: 12 weeks
 
Rate of pay: £12ph
 
Application Deadline: 10th May
 
Duties: The role will involve:
  • Preparing for and promoting the first Greater Essex Business Summit currently planned for September
  • Refreshing the business-facing Ambitious Essex e-newsletter with a revised strategy 
  • Creating a range of written, visual and video content for our business-facing channels, including social media and a new website due to launch in August 
  • Engaging with key strategic businesses and local SMEs at a range of business-facing events, including a brand-new retrofit forum and the wrap-up of our Innovation Accelerator   
Requirements:
  • ARU undergraduate student
  • Required: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for a range of platforms and audiences
  • Required: Ability to work with and manage a complex range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Required: Strong time management skills and the ability to deliver quality work at pace 
  • Required: A strong eye for detail with the ability to spot trends and discrepancies 
  • Preferred: Experience in writing for ‘corporate’ channels, platforms or publications 
  • Preferred: UK driving license  
Learning outcomes: At the end of the internship the student will be able to demonstrate:
  1. Impeccable communication skills with the ability to write for a broad range of channels and audiences 
  2. Excellent organisation skills, helping to deliver several programmes of work simultaneously 
  3. Stakeholder management capabilities, having worked with a range of colleagues within the organisation, as well as public and private sector partners across the East of England
