Cambridge Junction require event team staff to work across the box office, bar and as venue stewards. This position is a zero hour contracted post. Hours will be determined by events and will include evening & weekend work and unsociable working hours (e.g. 9pm-7am on a Saturday night). It’s essential that you’re able to work weekends as part of this position.

Main Purpose of Job 
  • To oversee efficient service delivery of the programme, ensure compliance with health and safety and licensing obligations, and liaise with relevant staff to ensure clear communication and flow of information across the organisation.
Main Duties
  1. To assist the Duty Manager & Supervisor Team across the venues in ensuring the compliance of the licensing objectives and the health & safety of staff, artists and most importantly customers using the venue.
  2. Represent Cambridge Junction at events and potentially be required to work across all departments for Box Office, Bar, Stewarding and Cloakroom.
  3. Have excellent communication skills when dealing with customers by phone, email and in person.
  4. Ensure the highest levels of accuracy when handling cash and taking payments, including accurate cashing up at the end of a shift.
  5. Have an excellent working knowledge of our programme, venues and events as the Event Team act as an information hub for customers, artists and other venue users.
  6. To assist customers in the enjoyment of events whilst ensuring their safety at all times, including crowd management in line with company procedures and guidelines set out by governing authorities.
  7. To ensure a fast and accurate serving of drinks whilst ensuring excellent customer care.
  8. To ensure the bars/café is clean, presentable and up to high hygiene standards and is left in a stocked, clean and suitable state.
Person Specifications
It is essential that the Event Team Staff have: 
  • Experience of providing high levels of customer care. 
  • A willingness to work within all the different Operations departments of Bar, Box Office and Stewarding.
  • Experience of working within a team.
  • Excellent communication skills and professionalism with artists, other staff members, customers and other venue users.
  • Have the confidence to be able to approach customers and when necessary enforce any rules and policies.
  • A polite, friendly and outgoing personality.
  • Availability to work late nights and weekends
  • Flexibility to move across departments (Bar, Box Office, Stewarding), including during events where necessary at the request of the Duty Manager.

It is desirable that the Event Team Staff have: 
  • Experience of working events within an arts environment. 
  • A demonstrated professional interest in the arts and entertainment. 
  • Experience of working in a bar, box office & stewarding environment. 
  • A knowledge of operations, health and safety, licensing in an arts and/or entertainment context.
  • A Front Line Door Supervision Security Industries Authority Licence or/and a Personal Licence (NCPLH – National Certificate for Personal Licence Holders).
Salary and terms 
  • The post of Event Team Staff is offered an hourly rate ranging from £8.21 to £9.21 depending on the position filled. If you are working a club, you will receive an extra £1 per hour. 
  • The nature of the position means the Event Team Staff are required to work evenings and weekends. 
  • The contract is offered on a Zero-hours basis. This means that we are unable to guarantee a set amount of hours each week as they are dependent on the amount of events we have. 
  • For each hour you work you accrue holiday pay which is automatically paid on a 3-month rolling basis, or when you leave employment with Cambridge Junction.
