This is a part time position which will support exciting new technology development in a small and innovative company in Cambridge. This hands-on role involves the preparation of electronic and sensor prototype devices, conducting routine measurements and experiments, recording results, writing up brief reports and notes, and communicating with the company collaborating partners and customers. The role is highly interdisciplinary and would suit a graduate or postgraduate student in engineering, physical sciences, computing, data science, etc. This is a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in leading edge, innovative technology development, develop new skills, collaborate with, and learn from experienced and talented engineers and scientists. The role will be supervised by senior researchers and full training will be provided.
The role offers significant flexibility and can be adapted to suit the studies and interests of the candidate, to support their professional and personal development.
 
Qualification and skills:
Required:
- Studying toward undergraduate or postgraduate degree in mechanical, electrical or electronic engineering; physical sciences (maths, physics, chemistry), robotics, computing, data science, machine learning and AI
- Familiarity with common (and/or specialist) software
- Excellent written and spoken English
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Willing to develop new technical skills and gain understanding of new and emerging fields of science and technology
- Practical approach to problem solving and can-do attitude
- Excellent analytical skills
- Able to work independently and as a part of a team
- Reliable, good time-management skills

Desirable:
- Previous experience in conducting experiments and measurements, using test equipment, designing new products, IT and computing, PCB and electronics assembly, electronics hardware and software. This experience can be from previous employment, studies, hobbies and interests.
- Previous experience in any customer-facing environment
Pay: £9.50 to £12.00 per hour depending on experience
Working hours: 1 or 2 days per week
Duration: 3 months with possibility for extension
