POST TITLE:  Summer General Assistant Team Leader (Residential Service – Cambridge)

PAY RATE:  £11.00 per hr (Free accommodation is included)

DATES: 1st June 2020 - Sunday 13th September 2020

PLACE OF WORK: Cambridge

HOURS OF WORK: Full time, can be covering seven days a week Monday to Sunday.  Some staggered stats and late finishes may be required.

RESPONSIBLE TO:  Housing Manager & Housing Management Officers

MAIN DUTIES:   To be a key member of the summer front of house staff.  Working closely with the Housing Management Officers to ensure smooth running of the summer business and preparation for arrivals 2019 in halls and leased houses around Cambridge.

  • Lead a team of summer staff to make sure that customer satisfaction is met and accommodation is ready for summer and September arrivals.

  • Lead on front of house issues and services, including arrivals preparation, turnaround of rooms and general customer service.

  • Ensure you and your team work to the required standards as per the Residential Service summer handbook and training, including ensuring all guidance is followed when lifting heavy items.

  • To ensure that cleaning agents and equipment are used for the correct purpose and in the correct manner as per the COSHH cleaning training.

  • To maintain Health and Safety regulations at all times and that any accidents are logged within the accident book and are reported appropriately.

  • To ensure that information regarding standards of work which don’t comply with the Residential Service summer Handbook and training are passed to the Summer coordinator/ Housing Management Officer for investigation.

  • To organise and assist with the removal of refuse, moving furniture and light gardening duties.  Ensuring that the team wears the correct protective clothing at all times. (PPE)

  • To assist the Housing Management team with the administration of tasks relating to preparing the accommodation for arrivals.

  • To organise regular checks of the University houses and halls as required.

  • Ensure the team carry out weekly and monthly fire alarm checks and meter reads as required.

  • To keep accurate records of cleaning materials, linen and any other item you may need during the summer so that stocks don’t run out.

  • To keep store cupboards neat and tidy and a register of what is where

  • Report any defects or hazards relating to repairs and maintenance found in work areas.

  • To oversee the team and ensure all tasks are completed on time as designated by the Housing Management Office.  The Team Leader would be responsible for output levels relating to tasks, including but not limited to the timely delivery of services, quality control, safe working and staff behaviour.

  • To ensure all hours are completed on the rota and to advise the Housing Management Officer of weekly rota or if shits can’t be covered.

  • Complete all training and refresher training when required and to make sure all team members continue to work in an appropriate fashion.

  • To participate in evacuation drills of building/s and record information accurately.

  • Comply with data protection requirements in all working practices and maintain confidentiality as necessary.

  • To undertake the induction training at the start of the summer business period.

  • Every member of staff is required to show respect to their colleagues and to understand and adhere to the University’s values; and to support all the teams with which they have contact in achieving the outlined objective.

  • To partake in RA duty and out of hours* rota

  • Such other duties as may reasonably be required.

     

Hours worked are according to the Rota which are compiled according to the needs of the business, for this reason no successful applicant can be allowed any more leave that the two day per week allocated by the Rota. All hours worked are at the standard rate.

Person appointed must be available from Wednesday 1st June 2020 - Sunday 19th September 2020 

*RA Out of hour’s shifts – A minimum number of 2 shifts per week must be completed to qualify for the free rent
